    The Road to Skyfall

With Edinburgh as your starting point this day trip will take you the exact spot where Daniel Craig and Judi Dench pause for thought before their final battle at Skyfall.
For a moment the majesty of the landscape takes over, overwhelming the screen with Scotland's scenic beauty, and it's even more breathtaking in real life.
As you track north the magnificent mountain scenery builds and builds to its epic final act near Glencoe in the Highlands.

Scotland is where Ian Fleming's fictional spy James Bond was born and it is also where some of the most memorable movie scenes in the franchise's history have been filmed.
For Bond Edinburgh is really where his adventures began, as after he was orphaned he was sent to live with his aunt, who first dispatched him to Eton, and then to Edinburgh's Fettes College.
"Here the atmosphere was somewhat Calvinistic, and both academic and athletic standards were rigorous," wrote Fleming. "Nevertheless, though inclined to be solitary by nature, he established some firm friendships among the traditionally famous athletic circles, at the school. By the time he left, at the early age of seventeen, he had twice fought for the school as a light-weight and had, in addition, founded the first serious judo class at a British public school."
Fettes is a working school, so while you won't be able to stop for more than a snap it does make an auspicious start for your 007 drive.

No self-respecting Bond adventure would be complete without a close encounter with a shark or two. That's where Sea Life Loch Lomond comes in. Its Tropical Ocean Tunnel is home to Black Tip sharks, rays and other exotic marine life. Opt for the VIP experience and you can even feed them if you're brave enough.
Sea Life also has plenty of native Scottish marine from Loch Lomond and the surrounding areas including dogfish, otters and sea horses.

The very first 007 movie Dr No featured the stunning Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica, so a small detour for a stroll around the Falls Of Falloch is still very much on Bond brand. It's just a short 1/4-mile hike to see the 30ft-high falls and a lovely spot for a picnic lunch.

A stop at the Kingshouse Hotel gives you a chance to take a break and soak it all up through before the final stretch into Skyfall territory.
The hotel serves lunch in its bar and classic afternoon teas with 270-degree views over the Glencoe Valley. If you stay for dinner you can even dine in a dome by the river!
Even if you're not planning to stop the hotel is a useful landmark as the 007 road is just beyond on the left and easy to miss in all the natural splendour.

    James Bond Skyfall Road

    Open Details
The road to Skyfall is actually the road to the Glen Etive estate. Bond's fictitious family home was destroyed in the fill so this last leg is about following where Bond and M made their final journey together.
It's an exciting drive as the road follows the River Etive, with plenty of bumps and corners to keep you busy at the wheel. It's a mix of slightly broken tarmac and gravel in places so it's best not to travel at super spy speeds.
As result it takes a good 20 minutes to navigate its (00)7 miles and, when you do reach the end you'll find yourself at the banks of Loch Etive.
It’s a beautiful spot to imagine the end credits rolling, but the only way forward from here is to go back, just as Bond himself said.
